About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Huntington, WV, empowers passionate individuals to become educators and advocates for a just food system through immersive training at the Allegheny Farm. Our program is committed to creating equitable access to sustainable agriculture by providing organic food system education without tuition barriers, ensuring it is accessible to all. Fellows engage in hands-on experiences, learning to cultivate diversified crops on market-style farms, spearhead community gardening initiatives, and enhance food literacy in schools. Throughout the program, they also develop distribution channels that facilitate the access to healthy foods while actively supporting farmers markets and community food coalitions. This transformative journey lasts six months, followed by a Community Action Year, where Fellows implement their training in collaboration with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
