About WISEWOMAN Program
The WISEWOMAN Program, part of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, is dedicated to empowering low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women aged 40 to 64 in Huntington, WV. Our mission is to provide valuable health education and practical resources that help women improve their diet, increase physical activity, and adopt healthier lifestyle choices to prevent and manage cardiovascular and chronic diseases. Through comprehensive services including health screenings for height, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose, we equip participants with the knowledge and support needed to set achievable health goals. In addition, we offer follow-up visits for those needing further care and coordinate referrals to community resources that facilitate lasting lifestyle changes, fostering a culture of health and wellness in our community.
