The WISEWOMAN Program, operated by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources in Hurricane, WV, is dedicated to empowering low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women aged 40 to 64. Our mission is to equip women with the essential knowledge and skills to enhance their diet, increase physical activity, and adopt healthier lifestyle practices aimed at preventing and managing cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. Through our comprehensive services, we offer health education, measurements of height, weight, and blood pressure, as well as lab tests for cholesterol and glucose levels. Participants receive personalized follow-up visits for elevated blood pressure or lab results and assistance in setting achievable health goals. We also provide guidance on making healthier lifestyle choices, including smoking cessation, improved nutrition, and increased physical activity, alongside referrals to local resources for continued support.
