About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Lewisburg, WV, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates and educators in sustainable agriculture. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program empowers Fellows to promote a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Our Fellowship offers comprehensive training in organic food systems without tuition barriers, ensuring accessibility for all. Participants engage in a six-month immersive experience at Allegheny Farm, where they gain hands-on experience in diverse agricultural practices, contribute to community gardens, support local farmers' markets, and implement educational programs that integrate food and ecological literacy within schools. Following their residency, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills in real-world settings, thereby enriching their communities and advocating for healthier food access. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
