The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Mannington, WV, empowers individuals to become effective advocates and educators in creating a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship ensures accessibility by charging no tuition for its engaging Farm and Food Study. Fellows undergo a transformative six-month residential experience at the beautiful Allegheny Farm Campus, gaining practical knowledge in organic food systems, community gardening, and food literacy. Participants collaborate with regional partners to grow diversified crops, implement health-focused educational sessions, and enhance local farmers markets and food distribution channels, ultimately fostering healthier communities. Following this immersive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, putting their skills into practice with regional non-profits dedicated to food assistance and community health. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with program experiences running from May to October.
