About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
At the Allegheny Mountain Institute in Martinsburg, WV, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to fostering a just, sustainable food system through education and community engagement. We empower our Fellows to become teachers and advocates for social, environmental, and economic justice within the food sector. This fellowship is tuition-free, ensuring broad accessibility and inclusion. Participants engage in hands-on training at our beautiful Allegheny Farm, learning to grow diverse crops, maintain community gardens, and implement educational programs that enhance food and ecological literacy. Through innovative partnerships, our Fellows contribute to local farmers markets, direct-to-consumer initiatives, and community food coalitions, ensuring that healthy food is accessible to all. After an immersive six-month experience, they spend a Community Action Year applying their skills with regional non-profits, making a meaningful impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with fellowship activities running from May to October.
