About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Mineral Wells, WV, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders who advocate for an equitable food system that prioritizes social justice, environmental stewardship, and economic viability. Our fellowship provides comprehensive training and hands-on experience in organic food systems, allowing fellows to engage in community efforts such as growing and distributing diverse crops, running educational health initiatives, and managing school or community gardens. Participants also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings, support local farmers' markets, and boost access to healthy foods through innovative distribution channels. Over six months, selected fellows experience immersive, practical learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, which is followed by a Community Action Year where they actively apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Our commitment to accessibility means we do not charge tuition, ensuring that this valuable opportunity remains open to all passionate individuals. Applications are accepted until March each year, with each fellowship term running from May to October.
