About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in New Cumberland, WV, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in sustainable food practices and social equity through hands-on education and community engagement. By sponsoring and training passionate Fellows, this program empowers them to become advocates for a just food system that benefits both people and the planet. Participants engage in a transformative six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm, where they gain practical skills in organic food systems and work collaboratively on projects that include growing and distributing diversified crops, managing community gardens, and integrating food literacy into educational programs. The Fellowship promotes accessibility by eliminating tuition costs, ensuring that diverse voices can join the movement for healthier communities. After their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge in partnership with local non-profits to enhance food access and support community food initiatives across the region. Applications are open until March, with experiences running from May to October each year.
