About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in New Martinsville, WV, we are dedicated to cultivating a future where food systems are socially, environmentally, and economically just. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our program empowers dedicated individuals through comprehensive training in organic food system education, all tuition-free to ensure accessibility. During the six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, manage community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in schools. Our participants also engage in community initiatives like supporting farmers markets and enhancing distribution channels for healthy foods. Following their fellowship, they take on a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to put their knowledge into practice and mentor the next generation of advocates. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship running from May to October each year—join us in transforming our food systems for the better.
