At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Nitro, WV, we are dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system. Our program empowers passionate individuals to become teachers and advocates, equipping them with the knowledge of organic food systems and the principles of social, environmental, and economic justice. Through hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, selected Fellows participate in immersive experiences that include growing diversified crops, maintaining community gardens, and leading educational workshops in health and ecological literacy. Our commitment to accessibility means we do not charge tuition, encouraging a diverse range of participants to engage fully in our mission. With a focus on community impact, our Fellows also collaborate with local non-profits during their Community Action Year to enhance food access and support farmer’s markets. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, making it a perfect opportunity for those ready to champion healthier food systems.
