The WISEWOMAN Program, part of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, is dedicated to empowering low-income, uninsured, or underinsured women aged 40 to 64 in Nitro, WV, by providing essential health education and resources to enhance their lifestyle choices. Our mission is to help women prevent, delay, and manage cardiovascular and chronic diseases through a comprehensive approach that includes regular measurements of height, weight, and blood pressure, along with lab tests for cholesterol and glucose levels. Participants receive personalized support to establish realistic health goals, along with guidance in making informed decisions about nutrition, physical activity, and smoking cessation. Additionally, we facilitate connections to community resources that further assist women in their journey towards healthier living.
