About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Pennsboro, WV, we are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of food advocates who will champion a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our program offers a tuition-free, immersive training experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where selected Fellows engage in hands-on learning, focusing on organic food system education. Our Fellows gain valuable skills through diverse initiatives, including growing and distributing crops on market-style farms, implementing educational health programs, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy within local schools. By collaborating with regional non-profit organizations, our Fellows not only learn but also take action during their Community Action Year, broadening the access to healthy foods through supportive farmers markets and community food coalitions. We invite passionate individuals to apply by March each year, allowing for an impactful experience from May to October.
