About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Allegheny Mountain Institute's Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Petersburg, WV, is dedicated to cultivating a sustainable and equitable food system through education and community engagement. Our Fellowship empowers participants to become knowledgeable advocates and teachers in organic food systems, ensuring accessibility by waiving tuition fees. Over six months at our scenic Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows immerse themselves in hands-on training, learning to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement health-focused educational sessions, and maintain school and community gardens. They also integrate food and ecological literacy into educational programs, support local farmers' markets, and develop avenues to improve access to healthy foods. Following their training, Fellows engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their valuable knowledge. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences running from May to October.
