About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Point Pleasant, WV, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in food accessibility and sustainability. Participants engage in hands-on learning at our Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they receive organic food system education at no cost, ensuring that everyone can access this transformative opportunity. Throughout the six-month Fellowship, Fellows grow and distribute diverse crops, conduct innovative health education sessions, maintain school and community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into local educational activities. They also support farmers markets, enhance distribution channels for healthy food, and collaborate with community food coalitions. Following their immersive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, where they apply their learnings by partnering with regional non-profit organizations to strengthen community food systems. Applications are accepted until March each year, and the Fellowship experience typically runs from May to October.
