The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Princeton, WV, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders who advocate for a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and resilient. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship provides an immersive six-month training experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where selected Fellows engage in hands-on education in organic agriculture and community empowerment. The program is designed to eliminate barriers to access, offering tuition-free participation, and equips Fellows to grow and distribute diversified crops, run educational sessions in health care, maintain community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational frameworks. By supporting local farmers markets and creating new channels for healthy food distribution, our Fellows not only learn but also make a tangible impact in their communities. Following their immersive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profit organizations to implement their knowledge and advocate for more just food systems across the region. Applications are open until March each year, aligning the fellowship experience with the seasonal rhythms of farming from May to October.
