About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Summersville, WV, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a food system grounded in social, environmental, and economic justice. Through immersive, hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows embark on a transformative six-month journey where they gain essential skills in organic food systems education. This program not only promotes community engagement but also empowers participants to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain school and community gardens, and foster food and ecological literacy in educational settings. By supporting local farmers' markets and enhancing access to healthy foods, the Fellowship champions sustainable practices. After their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge alongside regional non-profits to create lasting positive change. The Fellowship is committed to accessibility by not charging tuition, ensuring that passionate individuals can take part in this vital program. Applications are accepted until March, and the experiential learning takes place from May through October each year.
