About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Terra Alta, WV, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system through comprehensive education and hands-on experience. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program trains and empowers Fellows to advocate for social, environmental, and economic justice within their communities. Over six months, selected Fellows engage in immersive learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, focusing on organic food system education while collaborating with local partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, maintain community and school gardens, and promote health and ecological literacy. The Fellowship is tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all candidates. Following their training, Fellows dedicate a Community Action Year, applying their skills through partnerships with regional non-profits to enhance food access and strengthen community food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March for an enriching experience that runs from May to October.
