Take a moment to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Then open your eyes and slowly read and pray today's psalm in the image above.

The psalmist describes living far from Jerusalem, in the foreign lands of Meshek and Kedar (5). This distance is not just geographic but spiritual: he lives among people who do not worship God. From this distant place, he cries out to God (1).

In that land, he asks God to deliver him from lying lips and deceitful tongues (2), and he trusts that God can set things right again (3-4). Ask God to deliver you from any lies that surround you right now.

Even in distant places, God hears the psalmist, which means the journey back to worship has begun. Thank God that he has heard you, pray that he will bring peace into your life (6-7), and conclude by praying through the entire psalm.

Community discussion:

No matter how far we feel from God, God still hears our prayers, sees our pain, and meets us where we are. What helps you remember that God hears you when you feel distant from him?
