Depression feels like a darkness that sits on your chest and doesn't go away. There is a sense of lack of freedom. It's like the sun is behind clouds and never shines. You find it hard to relate to the people around you. You can't understand what makes people happy and why you can't feel that way. You resent people for what you think is their superficial approach to life. BUT you need to be aware I'm speaking from the knowledge of my own experience of depression. Other people may be depressed to a greater or lesser extent.

That’s a really important question, and I’m glad you asked. Depression can feel like heaviness, emptiness, or numbness that doesn’t go away. Things you used to enjoy might feel meaningless, and even small tasks can feel exhausting.
It’s different for everyone, but if you’ve been feeling low for a while, it’s okay to reach out for help. You don’t have to go through it alone, and support can make a big difference. Asking this question is already a strong first step.
