Stress can affect memory and the ability to concentrate because your body releases hormones such as cortisol, which affects the brain's ability to process information. The release of cortisol makes it harder to concentrate and remember details.
Stress doesn't stop you from remembering things entirely, but it impacts the ability to remember information momentarily. You can manage stress by mastering relaxation techniques, like deep breathing and meditation. Please know that it is okay to feel stressed, and it’s completely normal to experience memory lapses during these times. Remember, If you need additional support, 7Cups trained listeners are available to offer comfort and help you through your challenging moments.

Stress can actually cause one who has disoriented thoughts and memories leading to forgetfulness. Extreme stress causes the buildup of the “fight or flight” hormone in the brain, leading to a lack of mental focus and feelings of anxiety. Lowering stress levels leads to calmness and improved memory. Engaging in useful hobbies and leisurely activities such as walks, cycling, reading, and yoga exercises, as well as healthy sleep and deep breathing can aid in lowering stress levels and enhancing mental clarity. Acts of self-care and patience in mental health are important in avoiding stress and promoting happy and free lifestyles.

Stress most definitely dulls our recollection and perception. It puts us in a completely different state. I have seen how learning is affected by stress, nothing is absorbed properly and deep focus or attention is not acheived. Its very rare to go into a flow state under stress and its even harder to think straight and compose logical answers under it. Apart from that stress dulls your emotional regulation and leads to a brain fog kinda thing where you feel overwhelmed and disoriented. It actually acts on memory a lot and you will find how much sharper your memory is without constant stress. It cant erase memory or really affect it but your brain is kind of on emergency mode so things like deep focus or retrieval of really old memories will be dulled - those functions are kinda kept to the side
