I have started dreaming of my rapist. This happened 20 years ago. I spoke to family and loved once at the time. Was very traumatic for me. I thought I had managed to block it out?

It is a common response to detach or 'block out' the trauma for a period of time after it occurred due to it being so overwhelming for your mind and body to handle at the time, but the memories of it usually do surface eventually. This can happen through flashbacks or nightmares, etc. so you are not alone in your experience with having dreams about your rapist. I am so, very sorry this happened to you and hope you can find some healing. Always remember that you are never alone in this â¤ï¸
