Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
Positivity & Gratitude / by Bow64

...See more You’ve probably heard the phrase “Is the glass half-full or half-empty?” It’s a popular concept when describing how people see the world and their experiences. This may seem like a pretty basic idea, but it stands for a much deeper perspective and the idea of having a certain mindset. The half-full or half-empty glass is, in its core, a metaphor. Imagine a glass filled exactly halfway with water. Regardless of who is looking at the glass, it has the same amount of water. What changes is how we interpret what we see.  When you look at the half-full glass, you’re looking at what is there and not what’s missing. You just pay attention to what you still “have”. This view is typically linked to gratitude, hope and resilience. It doesn’t mean denying struggles or acting like everything is fine, but deciding to pay attention to what is still present, even when life is hard.  Seeing the half-empty glass doesn’t necessarily equal negativity. Most of the time it can be the result of loss, disappointment, fatigue or hurt. When someone has had tough times, their mind may instinctively prioritize what’s not there, because they feel like they need whatever is missing in order to be okay. In many cases, this perspective is about survival and not attitude. This perspective is not fixed though. Whether people view the world as a half-full or a half-empty glass depends on their current emotional state, stress level and life experiences.  The glass also applies to confidence and insecurity. A lot of insecurities come from comparisons to others. You can think of this as seeing the glass as half-empty. Sometimes we feel insecure, or like we are not enough, because we are focused on what we believe we “lack”. Think of phrases like “I am not interesting enough”, or “I don’t look good”. It can help to shift your focus to the half-full part of the glass. This can be done by focusing on your strengths and the things that are uniquely you. Maybe you are kind and supportive, or perhaps you make others laugh.  Focusing on the positive impact we have on the world can help us feel more confident about ourselves. This is not the same as pretending you are flawless. You are not "erasing" imperfections. You are choosing to make peace with being yourself and recognizing that you don’t need to be perfect to be enough. The empty half of the glass becomes too much to bear on hard days. On good days, aknowledging the full part may be easier. Instead of forcing ourselves to view the glass as half-full, a healthier approach might be to learn to hold both truths at once. Acknowledging what hurts or feels absent, while also recognizing what remains and what continues to support us, even in small ways.  In that sense the half-full, half-empty glass is not a test of positivity. It’s an opportunity to understand our own perspective better and to find strength in the things we have, especially when life feels heavy and we need it most. Created together with @Ruben470, whose input and perspective I really appreciate! 🤍 We’re curious to know: * How do you see the glass in general, and how do you usually look at it when you’re struggling?  * Do you think that it is possible to recognize the “empty” part of the glass, while also appreciating the “full” part? * Do you feel like the “full” part of the glass can help you overcome the “empty” part? We’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts 🤍 ~Bow 🎀🌈 and Ruben🌲🔥~

...See more 🎀🤍 Hey there, wonderful people, 🤍🎀 I want to remind you today that feeling anxious, overwhelmed or unsure is completely okay. Life can be tough and sometimes anxiety makes even the simplest things feel like mountains to climb 🏔️ but that doesn’t mean you’re failing or falling behind! Healing and growth don’t come with a timeline or a checklist ⏳ Some days you might feel strong and capable 💪 Other days, it might feel like you’re just barely holding on. And you know what? Both are okay. If all you did today was breathe and survive, that’s enough. Truly!  🌬️ 💛 You’re allowed to feel tired 😴 💛 You’re allowed to take a break without guilt 🛌 💛 You’re allowed to move forward at your own pace 🐢 No one else’s journey looks like yours 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ and comparing yourself only adds unnecessary pressure. Instead, try to be gentle with yourself! 🤗 Sometimes, sharing even a small victory 🏆 or a simple coping trick 🧘 can light the way not just for you but for someone else in this community 🌟 We’re all walking this path together and your experience matters! 💬 This space is for your fears 😟 your doubts 🤔 your courage 💖 and your growth. All of it. You belong here, exactly as you are! 🤍 Here’s a quote to carry with you: "You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you"  - Dan Millman I’d love to hear from you: ✨ What’s one small thing you’ve done recently that made you feel proud or gave you a little bit of peace? ✨ How do you remind yourself that you’re enough on the hard days? Let’s support each other by sharing our little wins and gentle reminders 💞 You’re not alone and you’re doing better than you think! 🤍🤗 With care, Bow 🎀🌈

🌈 Finding Little Rainbows in Anxiety 🤍

...See more 🌼 Hi, lovely people in the Anxiety Community! 🌼 My name is Bow, and I know that anxiety and panic attacks can sometimes feel overwhelming and almost like a storm that will never end. I’ve been learning to look for the little lights each day. ✨ My dog being silly when he sleeps 🐶 sharing a laugh with my sister 💕 taking a short motorbike ride to clear my head 🏍️💨 writing a poem when my thoughts get too heavy ✍️ or simply sipping on a comforting cup of coffee. ☕ Every one of these small moments reminds me that beauty is still around me! A favourite quote of mine is: “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” 🌈 because even when things feel dark, we can notice or even create tiny rainbows, whether for ourselves or for the others. 🌦️💖 This community is like that rainbow for me 🤗. A place where we don’t have to pretend we’re fine, where kindness and understanding make the weight a little easier to carry. If you’re struggling, please know that you’re not alone. We are all walking this path together! 💕🌟 🌈 I’d love to hear from you: What’s one small thing that brings you light or comfort when anxiety feels heavy? ☀️

Restless Shadows

...See more Legs restless, heart pounding, mind on fire, The crash is gone, but nothing feels higher. I watch her shiver in the dark, Her trembling body mirrors my own heart. Sleep won’t come, night drags on long, Every breath feels heavy, every thought wrong. Shadows shatter, panic fills my chest, A storm of fear rages, twisting unrest. Winds of anxiety tear through my mind, Lightning of dread flashes, cruel and unkind. Thunder pounds in my veins, heart out of control, I try my best, but cannot rest, cannot console. We lie awake, trapped in endless night, Fear closing in, stealing all light. I reach for her, but comfort is thin, The dark surrounds us, we cannot win. Still through the storm, our spirits stay, Refusing to break, we find a way. The night may haunt, but it will fade, And dawn will honor the strength we made.

We move together

...See more A crash and they’re gone from sight, The night swallowed them, turned day to night. I wasn’t there to call or stay, Just left with shock that won’t decay. I hold my sister, small and frail, Her whispered fears, a trembling wail. The weight of care falls on my chest, Supposed to guide her, give her rest. Panic rises, sharp and wild, It twists my gut, it chokes the mild. My hands shake, my vision blurs, The world’s a maze of empty slurs. Yet still I breathe, though fear is strong, I keep her close, we move along. I’m broken, scared, unsure, confined, Yet love persists in heart and mind. We move together, scared, unsure, Two souls alone, yet still endure. The crash is gone, but it remains, A shadow stitched into our veins.
