I don't speak the language

...See more 101 Feelin' & Dealin' with Mae Hi I'm Mae And I'm here to remind you that: We're all dancing on this weird former floating fireball (that somehow grew grass), called earth, together, so why not make the best of it👯⭐ 101 Feelin'  & Dealin' with Mae - This is #3 of a series with random hopefully relevant topics, I didn't know I was so passionate about until I wrote them down.  ------------------------- I don't Speak the Language I used to be a kid that didn't speak a lot. Not because I was scared of talking, but because I didn't feel heard. It always seemed obvious to me that everyone was too busy dealing with their own inner worlds to really notice me. I didn't know how to get heard. Especially when it came to emotions, I felt like an alien. Like I was somehow the only person in the world who couldn't put what I felt into words. At home talking about emotions definitely wasn't a priority. And looking back these experiences shaped the way i learned to understand and express my feelings... in a very valuable way.  What a lot of people don't realize is that feeling emotions and putting them into words aren't the same thing. Sounds pretty logical, right? Yet, when we teach kids about emotions, the focus is often on talking about how they feel and telling others when something upsets them. And of course, this is important! Being able to communicate our feelings and needs helps us connect with others and understand each other.🤝👥 Words are one of the most direct ways to let someone into our inner world, but they aren't the only way we learn to express what's going on inside us. We learn how to express our emotions by observing the people around us. So, if you grow up in a family where feelings aren't openly discussed, putting them into words might not come naturally to you. You might develop other ways of expressing yourself, some healthier than others. Because these emotions don't just disappear when we don't have the words for them. And don't even get me started on what happens when we try to bury these feelings and pretend they don't exist. Guilty as charged🏛️📜🔨 🙋‍♀️ Spoiler alert: they don't just magically disappear...✨✨ But why do we so often treat talking about emotions as the ultimate sign of emotional awareness? What if instead of assuming that everyone knows this language, we help them discover different ways to understand and express what they're feeling too? It took me a long time to figure this out. I've often felt misunderstood because people mistook my inability to communicate my feelings in words for not wanting help, or for not having problems serious enough to deserve care. But the thing is, even as a kid, I had learned plenty of ways to express my emotions.✨ I just didn’t express them through words. I still remember how my dad would say, “Every day is a party, so you better dance!”🕺✨🕺We’d swing💫 and spin 🌀around the room together, and for a while, it felt like we were in our own little world of happiness. On sad days, we’d change the music💿, grab our little instruments🎶, and he’d hold me close as we slowly swayed around the room. Back then, I didn’t think much of it. I was just a kid dancing with my dad. But looking back, I realize that long before I knew how to put my feelings into words, I learned that my emotions had rhythm and sound, of their own. I spent a lot of time drawing, too. At first, my dad forced me too, so I hated it. But eventually, my mom and I would make little drawings for each other and hide them around the house for the other to find. 🎨🖌️ No words, just little scribbles of our love, frustration, or regret. Now my emotions not only felt like rhythm and sound, they looked like color and shapes too. And this is my native language when it comes to emotions. The tricky part is translating this language into words. Because sometimes, an emotion isn't just something that resonates with some symbols. It's something that you experience with all your senses; it's the tightness in your chest, the urge to move, a palette of colors, the song that suddenly makes you cry. And how do you translate that experience into words when you've never learned to use them?  I know how lonely it can feel when everyone else seems to know how to make themselves heard, while you're struggling to find the words. And somewhere along the way, you might even start blaming yourself for not being able to explain how you feel.  Maybe we could all make a little more room for expressing our feelings without words. Imagine asking someone how they're doing, and instead of saying "I'm furious", they suddenly bust out an angry dance routine 🕺🕺right there on the street. Or someone so overwhelmed by life that they pull out the karaoke machine🎤🎶and start singing 'Sign of the Times' in the middle of a café. A little unconventional? Sure. But maybe we'd all feel a little less pressure to pretend we're fine when we're not. Just remember, some of us already have a native language when it comes to emotions. We just need to recognize it, embrace it, and perhaps find the words to help others understand it, too.

...See more 101 Feelin' & Dealin' with Mae Hi I'm Mae And I'm here to remind you that: We're all dancing on this weird former floating fireball that somehow grew grass, called earth, together, so why not make the best of it👯⭐ 101 Feelin'  & Dealin' with Mae - This is #2 of a series with random hopefully relevant topics, I didn't know I was so passionate about until I wrote them down.  My Poem What remains of me How do you recognize a cage When you have convinced yourself  You built it to keep yourself safe Drinking tea with the monster inside he knows all the places i try to hide. it's almost nice, actually, having someone who knows you this well. even if he's the reason you don't feel yourself. First you learn to recognize him.  But he returns wearing something different. And he disguises himself as ambition Making it feel like a decision Until you can't tell the difference between his voice and your own intuition. And slowly, you stop seeing him as strange, his voice and your own begin to sound the same. Until you start to question what you know to be true, how much of yourself is him, and how much of you? Sometimes I wonder how much of what I consider 'myself' is actually me, and how much, is just something I've been taught to believe by an illness that has spent so long pretending to be me.

Healing is Overrated

...See more 101 Feelin' & Dealin' with Mae "It's too boring to take life seriously.. We're literally just vibing on some weird former floating space fireball that somehow grew grass" 101 Feelin'  & Dealin' with Mae - This is #1 of a series with random hopefully relevant topics, I didn't know I was so passionate about until I wrote them down.  I saw this quote on Pinterest last week which said: "What doesn't k!ll you, gives you a set of unhealthy coping mechanisms & a very dark sense of humor" which made me think about how Overrated Healing actually is. Partly because I want to grab your attention by simply stating this clear-cut unpopular opinion, but mostly I want to make you think more deeply about the concept of healing. This is not me saying that there is no such thing as healing. However, on social media a lot of 'come on my heal journal with me' type of content is presented. Some are, either consciously or unconsciously, implying that there is such a thing as 'a healing journey' with as end goal 'being healed'. I believe this is a harmful concept. We need to understand the dynamics of hurting and healing. We often talk about healing as if it's a journey with a final destination: a point where we've worked through our pain and can finally consider ourselves healed. But what does being healed actually mean? Does it mean nothing hurts us anymore? That we've worked through every difficult experience we've ever had? That we'll never struggle with something we thought we'd already overcome? I don't think that's how being human works. Life doesn't stop happening once we've worked through our problems. We'll continue to experience things, change as a person and learn about ourselves. So when exactly are we supposed to consider ourselves 'healed'? Being hurt in an inevitable part of life. Give yourself permission to feel what you're feeling instead of pretending you're okay. Yes, scream and cry on the top of your lungs, let it all out...The goal is never to become someone who never gets hurt. But remember that you don't have to stay in that moment forever, either..  Hurting and feeling DOES have a purpose. They can teach us things about ourselves that we might not have noticed otherwise. Of course, not every painful experience comes with some grand life lesson, and we don't have to be grateful for everything we've been through. Sometimes, things just hurt. And just because something hurts again doesn't mean we've 'failed to heal'. Believing that, we might start seeing every difficult feeling as a setback, every bad day as proof that we haven't made enough progress, and every old wound that resurfaces as a sign that we're back where we started.  Simply put, in the end the goal isn't to 'heal'. The goal is to get to know yourself better and learn that you are more resilient than you know. This weird former floating fireball makes you fall down hard but also grow just like the grass somehow grew. We do the work, feel the feels, and heal the heals, whatever that might mean. And maybe the point isn't to reach a state where we're finally healed, but to learn how to navigate life, knowing that we'll inevitably get hurt along the way. That's all for today💛 Love, Mae

SHORT ESSAY: Are We So Busy Hoping That We Forget to Live?
Positivity & Gratitude / by DmnMae

...See more Someone in this community recently told me that the only thing we, humans, have is ⭐HOPE⭐. And it made me think: what happens when we become so focused on hoping for a better future that we forget to experience the life we have right now?🌅🌳🏙️🌧️ We spend so much of our lives ⭐hoping for something better⭐. Hoping things will change, that we'll finally be happy, that one day everything will fall into place.🌞 And don't get me wrong, hope has its place. It can give us strength during difficult times, motivate us to keep going, and remind us that our current circumstances don't have to define our entire future. Sometimes, hope is exactly what we need. But what happens when hope becomes the only things we rely on? When we constantly look toward the future for happiness, we risk overlooking the things that are already here. I think more people struggle with this than we realize. And when the future doesn't turn out the way we hoped, we might struggle to find meaning in the present. If our only reason to keep going is the belief that something better is coming, what happens when we can no longer believe that? Our well-being shouldn't have to depend entirely on a future we cannot guarantee.💗🔮 ⭐Hope⭐, by its very nature, is something we wish for but don't fully have right now. And while that's not a bad thing, constantly reaching for what is missing can make us blind to what is already here. 🌸 🌔 So, what if we started paying a little more attention to the present? 🌇 🍎 If it's difficult to think of something to appreciate right now, start with something we already have:👂👀👃👅👄 Our Senses. ☕ Really taste your coffee in the morning  🌦️ Enjoy the sun or rain on your skin 🌅 Watch the clouds or the sunset These are all small things that don't need to lead to anything bigger, or promise you a better tomorrow to be meaningful. So, for a moment, stop looking ahead. Take a breath. Feel your feet on the ground. Look at what's around you. Ask yourself: Can we allow ourselves to find little moments of life right where we are, even when things aren't okay yet? We're all figuring this out together. And we don't have to have everything figured out to share a moment of warmth, notice something beautiful, or simply be here. One small moment at a time. 🔸🌼🔸 Right here. 🔶 Right NOW. 🔶 Love, Mae
