...See more Relationships are hard. Whether it's romantic or professional, familial or friendly... I find that I have what I would consider low expectations when it comes to what I want out of my relationships with people...and when I make it known that those expectations aren't being met (which in and of itself is an agonizing process of even convincing myself it's OK to say.) I feel like I am a nagging, or being unreasonable, or asking too much. Outside the moment it seems so obvious. I want common courtesy and consideration, something I do my beat to offer others. But in the moment when I address my needs and feelings I question everything I say and think and feel. Is it even ok for me to expect this of someone? Am I making them feel worse about themselves? Do they think I'm overbearing? I end up backtracking and feeling like I need to apologize for making my feelings known. I think I gaslight myself at this point. I never know if I'm truly hurt or just self sabotaging.

...See more I started dating this guy and he is really very sweet, a bit goofy and immature but very nice and fun to be around. But he seems not to make me a priority. We aren't in a relationship but he will make plans and cancel at the last minute because he doesn't have the gas money (even though he spent easily 50 dollars on impulse buys the day before he was excited to share with me.) I only get one day a week to really see him for any length of time besides maybe grabbing a cup of coffee after work once a week and it's like things keep coming up that he prioritizes over seeing me. But he seems so happy to see me and spend time with me when we do have time together. I'm just confused. Should I tell him it's bothering me or should I stop making him a priority and make him put in the work? I just don't want to be the only one putting any effort into the dating thing all over again..
