...See more I was with husband from 2014 to 2017 during that time he repeatedly raped and sexually abused me. I told my sister in January 2019. She called the police for me. An officer come to the house and took some basic details. The police officer said they would contact the police from the area where the abuse happened and that once they got back In contact I would be asked to do a video interview. I got paper work in the post that come from the police from the area i lived in when the abuse happened. The abuse was not just sexual. It was every kind of abuse. My video interview is Thursday. I am scared they wont believe me I am worried because I dont know what they will ask I am worried because its hard to talk about I am also worried they will not believe me based on what the police reports say the police reports mention I am mentally ill, I dont mind that because I do have mental health problems but it says I am An alcoholic and I am not I dont drink every day and I am not dependant on drink, my husband was the alcoholic I never reported a lot of the abuse at the time I was scared and reports just say stuff like no one physically armed both parties agreed they had an arguement

...See more This Christmas I am free from my abuser. He doesnt know where I am living. He cant physically/sexually hurt me. He is blocked from all social media sites and he doesnt have my phone number so he cant hurt me emotionally He no longer has access to my bank account and my disability money. I am not free from the memories or the trauma that he put me through. I live in supported accommodation. I am trying to be okay and get through this day but really the only think I can think about is suicide. I know I am lucky that I managed to escape. I feel bad for people still in abusive situations that cant escape right now. The only thing I ever wanted to do in life was to help others. And on top of all this my sister is not speaking to me.

Domestic violence (My story)

...See more This is my story of domestic abuse and survival. I wont use my real name here or say where I am located so that I can remain anonymous. I have also changed the names of my abuser, friends and family members. My abuser was my Husband. Before I met my husband I lived in a shared house in Town1. I dont want toname towns so I will just number towns. My sister lived a few minutes walk from my house. I saw my sister and my nephew a few times a week. I had a job. I worked as a care assistant. I had friends. When I wasnt at work or spending time with my nephews I was out shopping or having lunch with a friend. My family and friends know that I was abused by my husband but no one knows everything that happened. There are some things that I have never been able to tell anyone. There are somethings that I have never even been able to write down because the memories are too much for me to cope with. But now I am going to write down everything. I started self harming when I was 8 years old. I had suicide attempts before I met my husband. I had been seen by the mental health team on a few occasions before I met my husband. Before I met him I was diagnosed with depression and generalised anxiety disorder. I met my husband online. He was living in town2. He had a flat to himself and he didnt work. He told me he had friends and that he volunteered at the church. He told me he couldnt work because he had depression. In May 2014 I had a few days off work. I took the train to see him. It was a 4 hour train journey. He met me at the train station. He showed me around town2, the town he was living in. He took me out for dinner. He paid for the meals. He had a pint with his meal. I didnt think anything of him having a drink with his dinner. After we had dinner, we went to the shop, he brought 4 cans of beer, again I didnt think anything of him buying the drinks, he asked me if I wanted anything from the shop. I was meant to spend 4 days with him and then go back home by myself. Those 4 days he was really nice and he gave no indication that he could be abusive in anyway.
