Trauma and Saline Nasal Experiences

...See more I’ve been dealing with somatic issues connected to trauma, and I’ve come to understand how strongly trauma can embed itself in the body. Some of mine seems to sit in my sinuses, which have stayed chronically dry and swollen. I recently started using saline nasal sprays, and they help enough that I try to use them regularly. The difficulty is that when the saline passes through to the other sinus, it triggers the trauma stored there. It has led to emotional outbursts, heightened sensitivity, and painful, exhausting crying spells. I used it again this evening, and the saline passed through both times, which keeps my sinuses from drying out but also causes emotional upheaval and extreme distress. I’m hoping nothing bad develops, though I’m a little worried it could. It isn’t cause for alarm right now, but I’m watching it closely. I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

Quiet Habits, Loud Feelings

...See more I wonder if anyone else here has the bad habit of not opening up and saying what they think or feel. I’m not sure if it’s an introversion thing or something else. I’m comfortable with silence, so when I’m around people I’m used to being quiet and not saying much. Most of the time I get overwhelmed because I sort of drown in my negative emotions, and after a breakdown I end up numbing myself out and just forget to share anything. It’s pretty counterproductive on a site like this, but I’m trying to be more mindful so I can actually open up and say what’s going on instead of disappearing into myself. Does anyone else here do the same thing?

The Weight of Human Nature

...See more I had another emotional breakdown last night, triggered by a video claiming people used to act better in the past. I’ve seen enough to know cruelty never went away — it just moved from public spaces to digital ones. Human nature itself weighs on me. I see how easily it drives people to hurt each other, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve lived like a hermit for so long. I stumbled across videos of people on drugs, and all I could think was, “How much pain do they have to be in to do stuff like that?” It made everything feel heavier. This world overwhelms me, and I can’t stand how people treat one another, and I’m tired of seeing their demons.
