The Weight of Human Nature

I had another emotional breakdown last night, triggered by a video claiming people used to act better in the past. I’ve seen enough to know cruelty never went away — it just moved from public spaces to digital ones. Human nature itself weighs on me. I see how easily it drives people to hurt each other, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve lived like a hermit for so long.

I stumbled across videos of people on drugs, and all I could think was, “How much pain do they have to be in to do stuff like that?” It made everything feel heavier. This world overwhelms me, and I can’t stand how people treat one another, and I’m tired of seeing their demons.

@ICJTech The world really does feel too heavy sometimes. The Internet has made it so we see too much of other's pain all at once. It is overwhelming and heartbreaking.

The fact that you feel so much for strangers shows how kind hearted you are. You don't need to carry the weight of everyone's demons on your shoulders. It's good to step away from the screens and limit your time online. It's okay to step away from the noise and protect your peace.

I stay on the internet because I can’t handle the outside world. It feels like a mirror more than an escape, reflecting everything people insist on pretending isn’t there. They complain about what they see online, but it’s only showing us who we are beneath the surface. I’m afraid of what I’d do if I didn’t stay here most of the time, because I can’t handle people or the world, and I don’t really want to be part of society at all. So I stay online, and I focus on building a future in cybersecurity and other areas of IT. Thank you for your post.

@ICJTech I agree on that social media can sometimes upset and hurt us.

I appreciate all the support, and I’m sorry if it seemed like I didn’t at first. I’m just scared of having a major breakdown that could put me in the hospital, and I don’t really know where else to talk about how I feel online, so I come here because it’s one of the few places that feels genuinely supportive. I do agree that I need more fresh air and exercise, and I really wish I lived somewhere I felt safe enough to do that, but I don’t. I’m in a bad neighborhood, and it makes even simple things feel out of reach. I keep hoping that someday I’ll be able to move somewhere better, take nature walks, shop at farmer’s markets, maybe even join a co‑op. Thank you guys for your posts.
