Perseverance

...See more Perseverance may seem heroic from the outside, but living it often feels like going through life with little to no energy. For me, perseverance is not about some huge achievement I have accomplished in life, but it’s about showing up for myself, even when I’m tired of making excuses. It’s about finishing the tasks I promised myself I would complete. It’s about pushing through moments when fear is louder than motivation. And sometimes, perseverance means choosing not to give up on myself emotionally. I’ve also learned that perseverance shouldn’t destroy you. There were times I fought for things out of stubbornness, even when they drained me. I held on to people who weren’t good for me,  and expectations that weren’t mine to carry. All of that was just fear disguised as persistence. Perseverance isn’t just about holding on, but it’s knowing when to hold on and when to let go. It’s about trusting that letting go doesn’t mean failure and that it means that we have more room to grow and do something better. Reflective questions:   What’s something you kept pushing for that you later realized you needed to walk away from?

Self-Awareness

...See more Self-awareness feels like turning on a light in a room you’ve been stumbling around in for years. Everything was always there: your fears, triggers, strengths, and patterns. But now you can finally see them. I thought I was self-aware until I realized most of my decisions came from automatic reactions. Someone's tone would unsettle me, and I’d quickly assume they were annoyed. A mistake at school would lead me to think that I'm not good enough. The more I observe my thoughts without judging them, the easier it is to move through life with intention instead of impulse. That feels like growing up in the best way possible. Now, I approach myself with curiosity rather than criticism. Why did that comment upset me so much? Why did I pull back in that conversation? What was I afraid of in that moment? The answers aren't always easy, but they are honest. That honesty helps me live more intentionally instead of being controlled by my emotions. Reflective questions: What’s one behavior you’ve recently noticed about yourself that surprised you?

Curiosity

...See more I've been thinking about how often we make assumptions instead of asking questions. It's easy to think we know what someone means or why something happened, and then just stop thinking about it. But being curious changes that. It makes things less harsh. It helps us stop and think before we act, and see the story behind the surface. Everything feels lighter when I choose to be curious instead of judging, even about myself. I stop thinking too much and start understanding. Being curious doesn't mean being nosy or overthinking; it means being open. Willing to learn, make mistakes, and grow. Discussion prompt: When was the last time your curiosity made you look at a person through a different perspective?

Empathy

...See more I've noticed that most of the time, people don't really want to know the answer. They just want someone to get it. It's very powerful to be able to talk without being interrupted or given advice, just a quiet understanding. It doesn't fix everything, but it does make things a little better, like you can finally breathe again. I used to think that empathy meant saying the right thing or trying to make someone feel better. Now I think it's just about being there for someone and not trying to fix their problems. It's hard, but that's what makes us who we are. Discussion prompt: When was the last time you really listened to someone, to understand them, and not just to reply to them?
