Purpose & Meaning
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by LaNiya

...See more Purpose and meaning guide a lot of what I do in life. From studying psychology to being in ROTC, volunteering, and helping people with mental health, I try to make sure my actions connect to something bigger. Knowing my purpose keeps me motivated, even when things are hard or stressful. It also helps me inspire and support others because I can show them why what we do matters. I work on purpose by thinking about my goals and asking myself why I’m doing what I’m doing. I also try to see how my actions impact others and how I can work with them in a meaningful way. When I connect my daily tasks to my bigger purpose, I feel more focused, confident, and ready to face challenges. Having purpose has helped me grow as a leader, student, and friend because I can help others see meaning in what they do and encourage them to keep going. It reminds me that even small actions can matter a lot. Discussion Prompt: How do you connect your daily actions to your bigger purpose, and what helps you stay motivated when things get tough?

Empathy & Compassion
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by LaNiya

...See more Empathy and compassion are really important to me because I genuinely care about understanding people and how they feel. Being a crisis counselor and a listener on 7 Cups has shown me how much it matters to just listen without judging. I’ve learned that compassion isn’t just about feeling for someone—it’s about taking action to make them feel heard and supported. Learning empathy has taken practice. I had to slow down, really listen, and imagine what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes. I also had to pay attention to my own feelings so they don’t get in the way of helping others. Over time, I’ve noticed that being empathetic doesn’t just help the people I support—it also makes my relationships stronger and helps me grow as a person. Empathy and compassion are now a big part of who I am as a student, friend, and future psychologist. I try to approach every interaction with care, even small ones, because I know it can make a difference. Discussion Prompt: What are some ways you practice empathy and compassion in your daily life, and how has it affected the people around you?
