...See more I dont want to lose my son. He is 24 years old and has for years been dealing with paranoia, anxiety, anger, delusions. He keeps telling me he cant control/handle/deal with what goes on inside his body or mind so his only way of dealing with this is to self medicate with whatever drug he can find (marijuana, meth, cocaine, opiates, heroin, etc) which than has led to his drug addiction. I have had him to so many psychiatrist and therapist over the past 16 years but hasnt helped and his mental behaviors and drug addiction has gotten worse, to the point he cant keep a job and I cant help or handle him anymore. So I spent over 100 hours trying to find the best residential treatment facility that would treat him like an individual and who actually cares and not treat him like just another patient. Its hard to find a treatment facility that wont scam you or perform insurance fraud. Majority of residential facilitys that treat dual diagnosis dont treat mental as primary illness. Most are addiction as primary with mental being underlying secondary. I came across A better life recovery in California, which is 1800 miles from home. They said they could help. So my son has been there 32 days and is telling me they lied to us they arent helping and I need to come home. But I have talked to his therapist twice a week and I have addressed all his concerns to them. Is my son manipulating me to come home or for once he isnt crying wolf. I believe if he actually gives program a chance it will work. Am I wrong?

...See more Ive sent my 24 year old son to dual diagnosis residential treatment center 1800 miles from home, hoping to get him the help he needs to help him with whatever it is that he is fighting inside his mind and body, he has paranoia, anger, anxiety, he lives in fear and he cant and doesnt know how to handle with what is going on inside his mind and body. So with these mental struggles he has turned to self medicating which has led to addiction. He has told me Dad if I can control what goes on in my mind, than I wouldnt need or do drugs. So I did a lot of research and found a facility that I felt could address his issues. He sees a psychiatrist once a week and a therapist twice a week, I talk to therapist and his case manager twice a week but my son is telling me this place is not helping him, and that he is wanting to and going to come home. Hes been there 31 days and I told him to give it a chance, they can help you better that I can. Am I doing the right thing or is he manipulating me and I have him in wrong treatment plan.
