Having hope when trying to achieve goals
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by Starlit263

...See more The second aspect I found the most helpful and was able to relate to the most was optimism, perserverance, courage, and creativity from domain 5. I believe these are valuable traits to have, and they can serve as tools to help us set and achieve our goals. Next, there was a section that said to add hope to your goals by using your character strengths. That was something I’ve never thought I could do. It served as a reminder for me to utilize my character strengths, and through doing that, I will probably be able to appreciate myself for the gifts I have and what I can do well. As I work through my goals, I know I will experience many setbacks (because I’m working on some pretty major goals right now and I’ve experienced a crazy number of setbacks), but this can be a way to instill hope as I make progress, and when I experience a setback, I will continue to be optimistic and remind myself that this too shall pass. Discussion: Many of us today have gotten used to thinking negatively, and it feels like having hope and staying optimistic is an impossible thing. Do you feel like you are more prone to staying optimistic or thinking negatively, and if you are not yet at where you want yourself to be in terms of the amount of hope and optimism you have, what can you do to learn how to be more hopeful?

Values based goals and utilizing character strengths to accomplish them
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by Starlit263

...See more Hi :) I think the domain that stands out to and relates to me the most is domain 1. And the aspects I found the most useful there were the insights as to how we can set our goals, which is setting a values based goal and then utilizing your best traits, or top character strengths, to accomplish it. Sometimes, we set goals but somehow don’t feel a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment after we complete them. And when we think back, we see that that goal was not aligned with any of our values at all (let’s say you wanted something but that something was never something you valued). Perhaps we were just chasing that goal because it’s what everyone else set as their goal, making us feel like we should have the same goal. This is why it’s a lot more beneficial to set goals that are truly aligned with our values. And I have never tried the character strengths assessment before, and when I got my results, I agreed with it. I always recognized that those were traits that I was really developed in, but I never thought about utilizing them to help me accomplish my goals. I believe doing all of this can really help us get a sense of fulfillment, because first, we are chasing a goal that actually resonates and aligns with our values, and second, we get to show ourselves that we’re using the character traits we’re good at, which in the end will make us feel proud of ourselves. Discussion: Are most of your goals aligned with your values? Among your top character strengths, which one do you think is best for helping you achieve your goals?

How much does appearance actually matter?

...See more To what extent does appearance matter? We often say "personality > looks", but that doesn't mean appearance is completely disregarded. After all, how you look is the first impression you give off. Some people even get bullied for not looking as pretty as others, while sometimes pretty people get "pretty privilege". And if looks are actually not all that important, there wouldn't be so many people feeling insecure about their appearances.  I want to get some ideas on what others might think. You can just share your thoughts or you can rate it on a scale of 1-10, whatever you like :)

Positivity collection space: gratitude :)

...See more Hey people :) Just suddenly wanted to share something...  So we often times look at other people and what they have, and we get jealous. We start to only focus on the things we don't have in life, when perhaps we already have a lot. Anyways, you get my point. Recently, I've been doing some self care, self love, and self esteem work, and I figured that trying to practice gratitude might be helpful. And I've come to realize how impactful being grateful can actually be. So, through this post, I think we can try to make this a little positivity collection bubble, where you can write down the things you're grateful for, share them with others, and perhaps remind everyone to look at how much we already have and how blessed we are, and also spread some positivity in this lighthearted little space. Does not have to be an extremely big thing, because learning to be grateful even for day to day things is really valuable <3 So for me, something I'm grateful for was the holiday I had last week. It was a time for me to recharge, take a break from school, and connect with friends I haven't talked to in a while. We travelled together and had fun. I also bought nice things there so that was nice too.

What is self love?
Self-Esteem / by Starlit263

...See more Hi people :) This is my first post. We all tend to be very judgemental of ourselves and always rely on others to define who we are. This is why self love is such a hard thing. When others affirm us, it can really make us get a boost of self confidence, but what if we can be able to give ourselves that self confidence. I'm actually on a journey to learn how to love and take care of myself more because I've always been worrying about what other people think of me and I don't want to do that anymore. I don't want my worth to lie in how others perceive me. So, does anyone have some tips on how I can cultivate self love? What are some practical exercises I can do to help me? Because sometimes, I try to remind myself of some positive affirmations but they still somehow feel empty.  Sending love to anyone who is also trying to learn how to love themselves more <3
