Bio

Welcome. I am a writer, a bibliophile, an art lover, a college student, a thinker and a self advocate.

I love psychology and psychoanalysis. I like helping people. I've struggled with mental illness for 16 so I get it. My experiences provide me some insight you can't be taught.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to just give out advice. There's other types of support I can provide. Let me point out that I'm a verified listener. Meaning I extensively trained in active listening skills. I want to guide you to help yourself. You will feel great at the end when you realize you solved to problem yourself. I'm a believer in process. Standing back and taking a rational look. I can be your sounding board. Or just someone to talk to. I'm a believer that you've got to put your mindset on getting better. A changing perspective.

I can't provide you a diagnosis or reccomend treatment. And I love to give a self esteem boost.

If I had to pick an area of expertise it would be bipolar disorder followed by borderline personality disorder. But view my long list of area I work with.

Please pay attention to the areas I don't work it. Please be respectful and honor that list.

In my chat room we keep things respectful. I stand stand for being disrespected. I won't disrespect you. Also, complete religious tolerance is a standard.

If I don't accept your request but my green light is on I'm full but will get back. If my red light is on I'm not accepting members. You can attempt a message. If I'm around I do make exceptions. Or I might actually be off site.

Let's get you feeling better. Am open to having regulars.

Also, I am here for faith based listening. I'm Christian. And churches have neglected the mentally ill minority. I'm working on it.

And to point out the biggest problems on the list I don't work in: PTSD, sexual abuse, relationships.

I look forward to chatting with anyone who needs my help. Personal requests do draw my attention first.

New Calming Hobby: Collecting Indoor Plants

...See more It was in January that I started to collect smaller sized plants for my room. We have plants throughout the house including one my mom has kept alive since 2002. After a traumatic event 8 weeks ago causing PTS issues then a second trauma a few weeks ago I've gone from 4 to 12 plants in my room. I suppose it's a better stress response than a lot of other things. But I find so much comfort and calm in caring for the plants. I actually look forward to feeding and watering them and the collection has extended around the house. Orchids, bonsai trees, small ferns, succulents etc. I'm now excited to extend it to planting some things outdoors now that the weather is right. I grew some tulips and hyacinths from bulbs. I know really want to create a terrarium. The ones with all the moss and ferns look the most peaceful. I also want mom to be greeted by a lot of blooms when she finally gets out of the hospital. If anyone has any tips or advice for a terrarium my ears are open. I have had to limit myself to buying only 1-2 plants a week.
Writing As a Way to Find Relief

...See more I'm a huge bibliophile and writer. I've found one great use as creative writing as a tool for therapy is solving whatever problems you're confronted with through a story. I'm often confronted with a whole psychodynamic scape of problems all at once, so I write a piece of short fiction. Through creating characters and scenes and the problem the protagonist, a version of myself, is facing I create a solution for the problem in the story. Sometimes through the course of writing, or self-exorcism as I call it, I begin to narrow down bigger problems into more singular base problems that exist at the core of everything else. So, it is self-analysis at the same time, and you can make it end in the story however you wish. It of course doesn't solve the problem as easily in real life, but it provides more understanding and helps you to form a plan to fix the real life problem. It also leads to a lot of alleviations of anxiety, pressure, tension and other pint up emotions with the problems. There is a definite feeling of relief. This method has gotten me through some very challenging situations in the past. A big one last fall. Also, when publishing readers tend to gravitate when you share there's a real life, dark sided story behind the piece but then don't share the personal details. Writing truly is a form of self-exorcism for many people. Sometimes it is the easiest tool to communicate if you have a problem or are in need of help but hate saying it out loud.

ThoughtLight is always a delight to talk to. She listens to me attentively and with all seriousness. I appreciate how available she is and how sensible her replies are, absolutely showing she's listening and prepared to help. I couldn't ask for a better ear-it's comforting when others are interested in what we have to say and our struggles - that plus her clear common sense makes for a great comforting chat. Thank you very much once again!
