Relationship OCD? Needing constant reassurance & overthinking my feelings

...See more Hey, I think I might be dealing with some form of relationship OCD or anxiety, and I’m hoping someone out there can relate. I’m in a long-term relationship with someone I love and trust. We’ve been through a lot together and have grown so much, but recently something just shifted in my brain. One day out of nowhere, it felt like this fog came over me, and I started questioning everything. Now, I constantly get stuck in my head — obsessing over whether my feelings are “right,” or if I’m feeling “enough,” or even weird thoughts like “What if I want to be with someone else?” These thoughts don’t feel like me, but they still really freak me out. And every time I get one, I feel like I need someone to tell me it’s normal or that it doesn’t mean anything bad. If I get reassurance, I feel okay for a while… but if I don’t, I spiral — thinking about it for hours or days, trying to figure out what it means. I hate that I do this because it feels like I’m doubting something I actually care so deeply about. Has anyone else experienced this in a relationship? How do you cope with needing reassurance but not wanting to depend on it constantly? I’m like terrified it’s all a sign and it’s telling me the truth so like I need to do what my thoughts are saying

Relationship anxiety? Terrified my thoughts are real

...See more Hi, I’ve been struggling with something that honestly came out of nowhere, and I’m hoping someone can relate. My partner and I have been together since high school. Things weren’t perfect back then — we both had a lot of growing up to do — but over the years, we’ve worked through it and are honestly in the healthiest place we’ve ever been. That’s why all of this has been so confusing. One day, out of nowhere, it felt like a mental fog just hit me. I started overthinking everything. I’d get these random anxious thoughts about my relationship — like, “What if I don’t love him the same way?” or “What if I want to be with someone else?” Even though I don’t actually want that, the thoughts feel so real in the moment that they scare me. Sometimes I even get this weird grossed-out feeling toward my partner, or I suddenly feel turned off — and then I spiral, wondering if it means something is wrong. I know I love him, but these thoughts and reactions make me feel like I don’t trust my own mind anymore. I don’t feel like I’m constantly spiraling the way I was at first, but it still feels heavy and confusing — like I’m scared of what my own brain might come up with next. I think it might be anxiety-related, but I just want to know if anyone’s experienced something similar and gotten through it.
