Bio
Note: I am currently not taking new members. Thank you.
Hi! My name is Will (he/they), and I'm really glad you've found me here on 7 Cups. I know firsthand how hard opening up to people can be, so I'm glad you're taking a step in the right direction.
About Me: I am an early-career researcher who spends a lot of my free time volunteering here. I use my lived experience to guide my knowledge but stay current on psychological literature. I am a Dissociative Disorders Discussion Host (check the discussion schedule out here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/trauma/General_2433/ScheduleDiscussionsoftheTraumaSubCommunity_302437/) and currently try to focus my chats on those with dissociative disorders and trauma, though I am open to chat with about a variety of things outside of that.
Experience: My primary area of expertise is in dissociative disorders and trauma, but I have many areas that I can support individuals in, including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, school/work stress, and addiction. I mostly specialize in long-term support, and have received tulip awards, a teen award, and a paper plate award here from this support; I am deeply grateful for the members who nominated me for such awards. Outside of here, I have multiple years of clinical experience in residential and addiction programs and multiple years of research experience on psychopathology.
Time: On average, I can dedicate 45-90 minutes per individual chat. I will give 5-10 minute notices before I have to sign out, so do not expect an abrupt end to a conversation. I can check back with individuals after a conversation, but I typically offer one-off support to folks. Please let me know if you would like me to check back in, and expect a check-in after roughly a week if you ask.
Disclaimer: Due to a busy work schedule, I am only online every few days and don't always get 7 Cups notifications. If I haven't replied, please message me and be patient (feel free to double message as well).
Thank you for taking the time to read this; if you have any questions or just want to reach out, feel free to send me a message.
