I've hurt the feelings bordeline friend who may be in love with me, how can I fix it?

...See more I've known this boy for a very long time. He started to show some interest on me many years ago but I didn't like him and I was dismissive. Then he started making up stories about girlfriends who just didn't exist. I don't know he's actually bordeline, but he must be very depressed or something like that, and I'm not in the position to suggest visiting a counselor. I've been dating another boy for 3 years; I hope that he would feel better growing up but apparently he's still "dating" ghost girlfriends. How can I help, without making him think that I want to be more than friends with him?
