My Dog Became Part of My Routine When I Was Struggling

...See more There was a period when depression made even simple things feel exhausting. I would stay in bed longer than I wanted to and slowly stopped doing things I normally enjoyed. Taking care of my dog gave me a reason to get up, go outside, and stick to a basic routine. I’m not saying a pet magically fixed everything, but having that companionship made some days easier. Later, I started learning more about emotional support animals and what they actually mean from a mental health perspective. That’s when I came across My ESA Therapist and found their information useful while I was figuring out whether an ESA was appropriate for my situation. Getting professional support and having my dog around both became small but meaningful parts of my journey. Some days are still difficult, but I’ve learned that progress doesn’t always have to be a huge step.

Depression Doesn't Always Look the Way People Expect

...See more For a long time, I thought depression meant feeling sad all the time. What I didn't realize was that it can also show up as exhaustion, lack of motivation, trouble concentrating, or simply feeling disconnected from things you once enjoyed. Some days, everything looks normal from the outside while you're struggling internally. One thing that helped me was being more open about my mental health and exploring different forms of support. I also learned about emotional support animals through My ESA Therapist, which introduced me to another way people manage emotional challenges. For those who have experienced depression, what has helped you get through the difficult days when motivation feels impossible to find?
