My Dog Became Part of My Routine When I Was Struggling

There was a period when depression made even simple things feel exhausting. I would stay in bed longer than I wanted to and slowly stopped doing things I normally enjoyed.

Taking care of my dog gave me a reason to get up, go outside, and stick to a basic routine. I’m not saying a pet magically fixed everything, but having that companionship made some days easier.

Later, I started learning more about emotional support animals and what they actually mean from a mental health perspective. That’s when I came across My ESA Therapist and found their information useful while I was figuring out whether an ESA was appropriate for my situation.

Getting professional support and having my dog around both became small but meaningful parts of my journey. Some days are still difficult, but I’ve learned that progress doesn’t always have to be a huge step.
