Feeling uncomfortable around my friend who likes me (arospec and acespec)
Relationship Stress / by courageousPeach3843

...See more My friend likes me. He asked me to date him, and I told him no, as I didn't have feelings for him, or didn't think I did, and wanted to focus on figuring out my identity. He kept being open about the fact that he liked me, but sometimes his attention goes from flattering to... uncomfortable. I can't think of the word I want to use right now. At a school dance, I said I was hot (I can't remember if I was actually physically hot or making a joke) and he replied somewhere along the lines of, "Yeah you are." He's said similar things several times now, and it's a little flattering for me, but almost feels weird sometimes, and makes our conversation awkward for a moment even if he's saying something non-sexual, such as telling me I look pretty in whatever outfit I happen to be wearing. At that same school dance, he kept pushing to kiss me. He claimed it was a joke, but I could tell he wasn't really joking. I think he even said something about wanting to make out with me. At one point, he grabbed my arms and attempted to pull me onto his lap, and he succeeded in making me lose my balance, so my upper body was on his lap and my face was kind of pressed against his torso. I tried to squirm away, and I acted like I found it funny, but I was really embarrassed and even ashamed to be associated with him at that moment. I finally told him that I didn't like him the way he liked me or want to kiss him, and he looked really crushed and accepted it. A couple weeks later, I mentioned that I was pretty much aroace to one of my other friends while he was standing beside me. I know he heard, but he hasn't changed his behavior at all since. I'm almost 100% sure he knows what asexuality is, at least, since he thought he was asexual a few years ago, but he hasn't changed my behavior toward me since then. I know I sound delusional saying this, but he doesn't have any ill intentions, I'm sure of it. He's always been socially unaware, and I think he just doesn't know how to express or process his feelings toward me very well. I've done similar (although less extreme, in the case of the dance) weird things, in the few instances on which I've felt romantic or sexual attraction. Extra notes: -He's trans. -I'm a cis female. -We've had a bit of a romantic history in the past. -One of my friends feels like he's creepy. -I'm his best friend. He tells me things about himself he doesn't tell anyone else.

Explain some orientations to me, please...

...See more Hi! I think I'm on the aromantic spectrum, and I have a few labels I think might fit me, but I'm not sure... I'd like it if anyone who identifies as any of these orientations could kind of explain their experience with them. It might help me understand myself better. -Cupioromantic (but I also did have a period of being romance-negative, so I'm not sure about this one) -Grayromantic (I have felt romantic attraction once, strongly but briefly) -Arospike (because the romantic feelings were so strong but only lasted two days) -Demiromantic (I've only ever liked one person, and knew them for a year or more before I developed feelings for them) I'm finally being able to accept myself as a possibly aromantic person, but I still have a while to go.

I'm so tired of romance

...See more For context, I'm a younger teenager. I've pretty much only felt real, strong romantic attraction once, and it was for two days.  Recently, I've been getting super annoyed at the mention of romance. I read a romance book, and the entire time, I was thinking, Why do you even care? You could be spending time with your friends. My friend ("S") was talking about a crush she had to another one of my friends ("A") today, and the way that A gave S their full attention and made an intrigued face like it was the most important thing in the world just really p'd me off. I used to care about and like the idea of romance, but now it seems annoying, impure, and not worthwhile. I'd rather just have friendships. I have some insecurities, because I'm worried I'll be close to aromantic and I don't want to be, but romance just seems like a very unnecessary, annoying thing to me right now. I don't understand why everyone else my age is so focused on it.

I have a weird feeling about my aunt

...See more My aunt is my dad's sister-in-law, and she's been married to my uncle since I was three. She's ten years younger than him. For a few years now, I've heard my parents saying bad things about her, such as saying that she's a narcissist or manipulative. I don't think that my parents are unreasonable or gossipy people, but they can be pretty biased or quick to dislike someone sometimes. The only reason I couldn't just forget about this is that since I was eleven or so, I've had this strange feeling about my aunt that's been getting stronger as I get older. I feel like she's... judging me or something (maybe that she's fake? That could just be my parents talking though). That she can see exactly what I'm thinking but I don't know what she's thinking at all. I don't know if this has something to do with my parents' opinions about her seeping into my subconscious or if she genuinely just gives me a bad feeling. It's not that I'm unfamiliar with her, because I've known her for eleven years and felt perfectly comfortable with her before the feeling started. I talked to my parents about the feeling, and they said something along the lines of 'your feeling is justified, maybe in a few years you'll see where it's coming from.' I don't want to start distrusting my aunt, because I love her and I enjoy her company, but I don't want to dismiss my feelings either. What do you think? I really need some other people's opinions on this.

Should I stop a friendship?

...See more So, I have this friend. I'm only friends with her at this point to be nice, and out of guilt. She doesn't have many friends, and worries a lot that nobody likes her and that I'll leave her. This makes me feel really guilty because I do want to leave her. Unfortunately, one night when she was talking about this, I promised I'd never leave her. This was two months ago, and now I'm considering leaving her again. I feel like a terrible person, and I've just dug myself into a hole I don't know if I can get out of. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?
