...See more Hi everyone! I’m so excited- I just received my copy of How to Read a Book by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren. I’ve been curious about this classic for a while, and I finally decided to order it. There’s something so refreshing about holding a new book in your hands, with all the ideas waiting to be discovered inside. I’m really looking forward to learning from it and hopefully becoming a better, more thoughtful reader. Has anyone here read How to Read a Book before? Or, what’s the most recent book you’ve picked up that got you excited to start turning the pages?

Work to Live and Live to Breathe

...See more All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy In today’s fast-paced world, many of us have forgotten the simple truth: we work to meet our needs, not to lose ourselves in the process. For a growing number of people, working 10+ hours a day has become the norm - a practice that not only takes a toll on physical health but also chips away at our emotional well-being. The endless chase for money, luxury, and comfort can feel like a race with no finish line. On the other end of the spectrum, some are rejecting the material race entirely. In recent years, parts of western India have witnessed extraordinary acts of renunciation - couples giving away cash, jewelry, and all their prized possessions right on the streets, choosing a life of simplicity over one of accumulation. And then, there’s the middle path - moderation. As the saying goes, “Excess of anything is bad.” This is where balance lives. This is where we work with purpose, not simply toiling away for the sake of it, but aligning our efforts with our deeper values. The goal isn’t to count the hours, but to make the hours count. Each one of us is a universe in motion, carrying an inner story no one can fully know. Life is too short to spend it only chasing or only rejecting. Let’s commit to working on ourselves - our growth, our happiness, our peace - so that every moment becomes a memory worth holding. Which path speaks to you most? Share your thoughts in the comments - I’d love to hear your perspective.

...See more Feeding your brain with beautiful and positive thoughts is just as essential as eating a balanced diet. Emotional well-being doesn’t require drastic changes - just small, consistent steps. Here are a few mindful practices to help nourish your emotional and mental health: 🌅 1. Watch the Sunrise Try to witness the rising sun every day. It might sound simple, but once you make it a daily habit, you’ll notice a shift in your energy and outlook. "Every sunrise brings a new beginning, a new blessing, a new hope." 🙏 2. Practice Gratitude Cultivating gratitude is essential. Take a moment each day to appreciate the people, experiences, and little things around you. "Gratitude turns what we have into enough." - Aesop 💬 3. Engage in Positive Self-Talk The way you speak to yourself matters. Replace self-criticism with compassion and encouragement. "You are what you think. What you think, you become." - Buddha 📓 4. Journal Regularly Writing down your thoughts helps declutter the mind. Journaling is like a peaceful dialogue with yourself. "Writing is the painting of the voice." - Voltaire 🤫 5. Embrace Silence Spend a few minutes in silence daily. It can restore your energy, bring inner peace, and reconnect you with your true self. "Silence isn’t empty. It’s full of answers." 💖 Final Thought Your emotional and mental health are sacred. Nurture them with intention, kindness, and presence. Small mindful practices can lead to powerful transformations. "You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you." - Dan Millman

Kindness, God and Me

...See more When I first decided to put my thoughts into words on religion and spirituality, I found myself reflecting deeply. Questions began to bubble up. I paused, took a slow breath, and a quote by Ziggy Marley echoed in my mind: “Religion has become so many different things. Religion is an economic thing for some people. Religion is a gun.” It made me sit quietly for a few moments - sad, a little unsettled - and I found myself whispering, “Religion has become everything except compassion, forgiveness, love, and kindness.” Movies around the world have explored these vast themes, each in their own way. One such film that stood out to me is the Bollywood movie OMG (Oh My God!). While “OMG” is something we casually say, the movie takes a hard look at the commercialization and contradictions often seen in the name of religion. It highlights how sometimes, people focus more on rituals than on actual service, empathy, or humanity. In many places, challenges like poverty, malnutrition, gender inequality, and social injustice still exist. Yet, we often see people pouring milk over idols, offering lavish gifts to temples, or seeking blessings through rituals - when the same time, energy, or money could help feed a hungry child or support a struggling family. This isn’t about judging any faith or practice - every tradition has beauty and depth. But maybe it’s time to ask ourselves: Are we truly living the values our religions teach? Or have we drifted away from the core? Here’s where spirituality becomes important. Many of us tend to mix up the terms religion and spirituality, but they aren't quite the same. Spirituality, at its heart, is about connection - with ourselves, with others, and with something greater. It’s about growth, inner peace, and choosing goodness. If we’re deeply connected and honest with ourselves, our relationships and communities naturally become more fulfilling. One quote that always grounds me is by the Dalai Lama: “My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.” It’s simple - but not always easy. So, I wonder: Can we all truly live by this? Can we choose kindness over judgment? Compassion over division? 🌱 I’d love to hear your thoughts: What do you feel is the difference between religion and spirituality? Do you believe spirituality can help us live our faith more meaningfully? Let’s reflect, share, and support each other - with open hearts and open minds. 💛
