...See more Perserverance is the skill of discipline and patience, we persevere to reach our goals and succeed. But what if there is no clear goal? No clear signpost for success? In that case, I like to use the less-revered word, persistence, meaning to continue a course of action despite opposition or resistance.  I imagine a more goal-oriented person would rather use perseverance to describe their efforts. I can see the advantages in seeing life as a culmination of small goals into a larger goal, whatever a person's ideal life would be. I have found the flaws in having such a goal-oriented life, giving such important meaning to small goals, and having them fail was catastrophic for me, and it would happen very often. I understand that's the point of perseverance, but a lack of control has always been evident in my life, causing me hardships that were too difficult to bear; therefore, to persevere, I had to change what persevering meant to me and what I'm striving towards.  In a life where nothing is certain and losses keep amassing by the day, I found meaning in Albert Camus's absurdism. Absurdism posits that life is meaningless and irrational, but humans constantly want to give it meaning and rationalise it. Albert sees this conflict as "absurd." It is in this absurdity that life's true meaning is found. We exist to rebel against and oppose an indifferent universe. So for me, I don't persevere as much as I persist. I keep rebelling against the indifference of my challenges, society, and the universe. There is one more step to absurdism, which is the final goal as stated by Camus. Find people to rebel against absurdity with, because we're all on the same side, and no one should fight the universe alone. Questions: Do you persist or do you persevere? What keeps you going? What is the meaning of your life? Thank you

...See more I think, therefore I am. Rene Descartes coined this term to validate our existence through thinking. Whether we are living in a simulation, some illusory purgatory, or dreaming, the fact that we think and doubt means that we alone can be sure of our existence at the least. This is often the last bastion of sanity, the anchor that holds us tightly to reality. When life goes wrong, I can always retreat into my mind where I exist alone.  Self-awareness can be a double-edged sword; on one hand, you gain a better understanding of yourself, on the other hand, you won't like what you find. Self-awareness can lead to obsession; once you find one crack in the wall, you follow it endlessly until you reach the end, but there is no end. There will always be flaws and more flaws to be found until all you see are flaws. You lose appreciation for the walls separating you from the dangerous world outside and inside yourself; ignorance is one such wall. Some aren't ready to accept themselves and reality; to do so would lead to catastrophic reactions akin to dying. It is not their fault, self-awareness can be safely achieved without risk of further damaging one's psyche by use of another skill, presence. Presence is the skill of introspection while remaining grounded instead of being emotionally involved and criticizing. With presence, one can safely be aware without falling into despair and obsession. By disconnecting from ourselves, we can better sympathize and understand our emotions and actions, leading to a better connection to ourselves. As someone who struggles with self-worth, I find it easier to accept myself by treating myself like another person, temporarily separating the good and the bad, and treating the bad as a friend. Healing that side of yourself like family, until becoming one again. Questions:  How do you cope and manage with troubling discoveries while introspecting? When is too much introspection a bad thing for you? Thank you

...See more Hey guys this is my first post. What are you some things you guys feel is a uniquely ADHD trait. Like how for example people will go "yeah but I know focus some times too" when you tell them you got ADHD. What's something people without ADHD most likely don't experience? no wrong answers.
