ADHD
Hey guys this is my first post.
What are you some things you guys feel is a uniquely ADHD trait. Like how for example people will go "yeah but I know focus some times too" when you tell them you got ADHD. What's something people without ADHD most likely don't experience? no wrong answers.
Sometimes we can't will ourselves to do things unless we have the right level of sensory input. Like, sometimes I want to get off the couch, but it feels like I can't.

Well for me I have struggle with having a sense of time. Which causes me to be late to everything. Time just works different in my brain. So what I try to tell those close to me to do is if they are inviting me to something to give me a time-frame instead of a set time ,cause chances are I won't exactly make it at a set time. So instead of telling me be there at 5:30 pm, they can tell me to arrive between the hours of 5 and 6 pm. Another method I ask them to take if the timeframe method doesn't work, is to just bump up the time from the actual time, so if they want me to arrive at 5:30 pm then they should just tell me that they want to see me at 5 pm, because chances are I will be 30 minutes late anyways.
when your mental load is already overflowing & you become so overwhelmed you try to do all 45 tasks at once eventually burning out and only doing 3 of them.
I have at least 3 though tracks going through my head at any time. A song, random sounds, words at very least.
@Qualiajs I often get commercial jingles from 20+ years ago stuck in my head
Yes! Me too!
@incredibleGrace3758 Something I have learned is that a lot of people say things like "we all do it sometimes too" which at first really got to me. It's like yeah, I know sometimes you can't remember this or that, some days you are burnt out, you may not get chores done one day cause you are tired...
But with adhd I forget a lot of things, all day every day, back to back. I will forget something someone says right away if I don't write it down cause something else was said and it's gone from my brain now. I forget why I walked in a room multiple times a day. I literally forget thoughts as I am thinking them! What! I have to set alarms for regular day to day tasks. I can't get up for hours or the better part of a weekend except to eat or use the bathroom and even those things I will put off as long as possible...and it is physically hard to make myself move even though my brain is screaming to do it. I am chronically burnt out from all the noise 24/7.
So I think there is a difference haha, and we know this no matter what neurotypical people may say.
Hyperfocus
I would say two things that are classic ADHD would be time blindness and hyperfocus and both of these traits often accompany one another. I love hyperfocus for research purposes, the downside of this is experiencing brain burnout which happens to me often.
Here’s concise ADHD advice:
1. Structure & Routines – Use planners, alarms, and lists to stay organized.
2. Break Tasks Down – Smaller steps make tasks less overwhelming.
3. Movement Breaks – Short physical activity boosts focus.
4. Limit Distractions – Noise-canceling headphones or quiet workspaces help.
5. Medication (if prescribed) – Consult a doctor for options.
6. Externalize Reminders – Sticky notes, phone alerts, or accountability partners.
7. Reward Yourself – Immediate incentives for completing tasks.
8. Mindfulness/Exercise – Reduces impulsivity and improves focus.
9. Forgive Yourself –
This is simple for neurodivergent people but really hard for neurotypical to really get: my piles are an organisational mode, not a mess (tho they may look like it). Even harder: do not move anything! I know where things are, but if you attempt to “organise it” I’ll loose my stuff forever.
Can anyone relate?

I can relate to what you said @QuandarySister
For me it's been jumping from one job to another or frequent career breaks
