Building Trust
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by jollyshortcake22

...See more Trust is not something you get for free. You build it slowly, through actions that show others you are reliable, respectful, and real. On 7 Cups, where people often come to share vulnerable parts of their lives, trust becomes even more important. It is what makes people feel safe enough to open up, participate, and stay involved in the community. In online spaces, you do not have tone of voice or facial expressions. That means you have to work harder to be clear, thoughtful, and present. Trust grows when you follow through on what you say, stay consistent, and treat people with care, even when things get complicated. It is also about how you handle conflict. Do you disappear when things get tough? Or do you stay, listen, and work through it? People remember that. Trust can break quickly, but it can also be repaired with effort and honesty. As a listener, member, or leader, your presence matters. You help shape the culture just by how you interact with others. A small act of consistency, honesty, or kindness can go a long way. Reflection questions: * What makes me feel safe enough to trust others here? * What could I do more consistently to show people they can trust me?

Perspective Taking
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by jollyshortcake22

...See more Perspective taking means trying to understand a situation through someone else’s eyes. It is not always easy, but it can completely shift how we see people and respond to them. On a platform like 7 Cups, where members and listeners come from all over the world and carry different life experiences, this skill is essential. We all have default reactions. Maybe we assume someone is being rude or cold, or we jump to conclusions based on how we would act in their place. But stopping to ask, “What might they be feeling?” or “What have they been through that I cannot see?” can change everything. It also helps us notice what we might have overlooked. Maybe there is something we missed or did not fully understand. Maybe we missed something. Maybe there is more going on than we realized. Perspective taking makes us more compassionate, less reactive, and better at working with others, even when we disagree. It is not about giving up your view. It is about widening your lens and giving others the space to be human. Reflection questions: * When have I taken someone’s perspective and had it change the way I reacted? * What stops me from doing this more often, and what could I practice to improve?
