I realize there is no shortcut in dealing with difficult moments in life. I will just talk to people, be vulnerable, share my story and hear theirs. There is no magic solution out of it, but gradually, without even knowing how, things turn out to be ok. I hope I can support others through that as well.

Inner Compass vs Fear

...See more I was offered a promotion a few years ago that would have meant more money and a fancier title, but something in my gut kept saying "no." On paper, it looked perfect. My boss was appreciative me and also wanted to see me climb the ladder. But I knew this role would push me further down the road on a career path that I was already doubting. Deep down, I didn't want to be in that line work anymore. And the new role would also pull me away from the only parts of my work that I did enjoy - the mentoring, the creative problem-solving, the direct impact on people's lives. It would be all about managing budgets and sitting in meetings about meetings. I did accept the promotion - only for a while. Later, I felt so burntout and sick of the job that eventually, I left the department and switched my career.  This is what I think they mean by "inner compass", which is also mentioned in IDG framework - that deep knowing about what truly matters to you, beyond what looks good to others or what society says you should want. It's not always the loudest voice in your head, but it's usually the most persistent one. The tricky part is that your inner compass isn't always pointing toward what's easy or what makes immediate sense. Sometimes it's pointing toward something that requires you to disappoint people or take risks or trust that things will work out even when you can't see how. But here's what I've noticed: every time I've ignored that inner knowing, I've regretted it. And every time I've trusted it, even when it seemed scary, it's led me somewhere I needed to be. So here are my questions for you: 1. What's a decision you made that didn't make sense to others but felt absolutely right to you? How did it turn out? 2. How do you distinguish between your inner compass and fear or other emotions that might be masquerading as intuition?

The Self-Awareness mirror

...See more Hi all, I want to talk about self-awarenss here. You know that moment when you're scrolling through social media and suddenly feel irritated by someone's post, but you can't quite put your finger on why? I had one of those moments yesterday, and instead of just scrolling past, I paused and asked myself: "What's really going on here?" Turns out, their success story was triggering my own insecurities about where I am in life. Once I recognized that, the irritation faded away and I was able to feel genuinely happy for them. I guess this is what self-awareness looks like in real time, catching ourselves in our own reactions and getting curious about what's underneath, as a third person perspective. It's not about judging ourselves for having these feelings, but about understanding them, so they are not all who we are. The IDG framework describes self-awareness as being in "reflective contact with own thoughts, feelings, and desires", basically becoming the observer of your own inner world instead of being completely swept up in it. What's a recent moment when you caught yourself having a strong reaction to something? What do you think was really going on beneath the surface? How do you practice checking in with yourself throughout the day?

Empathy vs. Compassion

...See more The IDG framework describes Empathy and Compassion as: “the ability to relate to others, oneself, and nature with kindness, empathy, and compassion—and the intention to address related suffering.” It also highlights that while empathy lets us feel what others feel, compassion is what motivates us to act or to stay present, without becoming overwhelmed. Lately I’ve been thinking… how do we keep showing up for others without draining ourselves dry? * How do you know when you're carrying too much of someone else’s stuff? * What helps you take care of you, so you can keep showing up for others? Let's chat. We’re all figuring it out. 💛
