Mid-life Mid-career Change
Anyone who is experiencing or did a mid-career switch to a new field when they are already 35+ yrs old?

I switched career. I switched from animal behaviour to electronics.
I was looking to change my job. Didn't anticipate the complete change of subject.
It made me very grateful to my school, which taught me how to learn, as much as what to learn. The specifics of what you know don't matter so much when you can teach yourself anything.
It changed my attitude to recruitment. An ability and an enthusiasm to learn I look for, more than qualifications.
How it came about was complete chance. I happened to meet someone who thought I would be good at the job.
Advice I would give is to do a thorough inventory of yourself. What you are good at. What not so good. And then figure out how to learn the "not so good at" skills.
And to think about what your hobbies say about you. My hobbies were quite creative, and I ended up in a creative job. Which meant I enjoyed it and thus enjoyed learning what I needed to be able to do it.
@peacestorm1115 going thru the same. My workplace is closing the service I worked in for 25 years. It’s sad, overwhelming, and makes me angry. I’m being offered other positions but just not the same. I’m not sure what I’m doing right now and only have another 30 days to decide. This has been a big part of my life my career, I fear for the population I previously worked with. I have to blame on poor management the biggest reason for this. My agency becoming more about the money than the clients they serve. Good luck for us both.
