Using Music For Mental Health (and FUN!)
Music & Dance / by teaneutral

...See more I probably haven’t poked around the site enough to find a thread about this. Who uses music on a targeted basis? I began doing this after I got serious about my studies. So no more binging on sad 90s grunge, angry punk, or even bouncy KPop, unless I’m trying to induce the mental states I know, say, too much Pearl Jam, L-7, or Blackpink will bring. But if I wanna have energy to clean the studio or get some attitude for something, well then the latest Tom A. Smith album is just the thing! For concentration, some cello sonatas or the beatbox sutras of Yogetsu Akasawa. What about you? What do you use? Thoughts on this as a tool?

You Put Loss To Bed Then It Wakes Up Again!
Grief & Loss / by teaneutral

...See more I’m unsure where this should go, but it does concern loss. Mother’s Day is tomorrow. I don’t quite know hot to respond when when people in my community ask if I’d like to participate in Mother’s Day activities, since I had zero relationship with my mother after my father died many years ago. I devoted much time and compassion towards understanding as best I could the complications of her life and my entry into it that possibly caused her to behave in such a destructive fashion towards a child and later young adult. Then I found out that she had died recently, died in probably horrible circumstances. I would have helped in any way possible, asked for nothing, and left quietly afterwards, not staying for any funeral or memorial so as not to intrude. I’m very sad that she died this way. I’ve helped strangers. But the people around her were afraid I’d want her money, I think. They didn’t know me, else they would have realized I cared not for that. I cared for HER. Still, after all these years. Sigh.
