Neither dying not living. Stuck in limbo

Small question. If a person is scared of almost everything and therefore is unable to even try anything new, how do they find a purpose? Or how do they push themselves? What sort of base or dependability factor do they need to help support them? For example, a hobby or family or maybe even love. A push is required either externally or internally. But internally they are dead and have no will to even live or bathe.

@nash420 I'm really sorry to hear that the person you're referring to is experiencing such overwhelming fear and lack of motivation. Finding a purpose and pushing oneself can indeed be challenging, especially when fear seems to hold them back.

In situations like this, it's essential for the person to seek professional help. A licensed therapist or counsellor can provide valuable support and guidance to address the root causes of their fear and help them develop coping strategies to overcome it. Therapy can also assist in identifying their interests, passions, and strengths, which could lead to discovering a sense of purpose in life.

Additionally, having a supportive network of family, friends, or loved ones can make a significant difference. Encouragement and understanding from those close to them can provide a sense of security and motivation to take small steps towards trying new things or pursuing hobbies.

If the person is struggling with feeling dead inside and lacking the will to live, it's crucial to prioritize their safety. In such cases, immediate professional help is necessary. Encourage them to talk to a mental health professional, or if you're genuinely concerned for their safety, don't hesitate to reach out to emergency services or a helpline.

Remember that supporting someone going through such difficulties may require patience and empathy. Encourage them to seek help and assure them that it's okay to take small steps. Ultimately, the journey to healing and finding purpose may be gradual, but with the right support and professional guidance, positive changes are possible.

@nash420 You are your best base. Why? Because change often happens, so depending so heavily on one thing can make you vulnerable if you lose that base. Motivation can come from beginning something rather than waiting till the mood hits you. Adequate rest and a good diet can give you energy to attempt things. It might be good to try small things to get over your fears. One time I was seriously depressed. I was asked by a therapist to try making my bed every morning. I noticed when I did this it made a slight uplift in my mood. Now the mood lift was only 10 minutes, but that was 10 minutes longer than the day before. If you can improve your mood for a short period of time you can surely learn to cultivate that to longer times.
