Navigating being 23
I feel as though my twenties have been slightly challenging because I’m always reminded of what happened to my parents at this age. They had 2 kids and were honestly too young to have children. I feel so much pressure to have to grow up and be an adult yet I’m treated like a kid sometimes and some people don’t take me seriously. My dad told me that I’m unable to take care of myself and that I need to grow up. I’ve been hearing this since I was like 18 years old. No matter how hard I try it’s never good enough and I’m so tired of breaking this invisible ceiling of achievement that’s unrealistic. I’ve never really gotten the chance to live with my mom since I was like 5 and ever since I haven’t lived with her. I miss my mom so much and want to visit her for Christmas in Ohio. I just think that I feel overwhelming exhausted by my father and him trying to be 2 parents into one. He’s not nurturing. He’s just blunt and strictly honest. I don’t need that right now. I need my mom more than ever. Parents shouldn’t take on double roles. Like what the actual *** is my life right man. *** keeps falling apart and I’m scared. Everything is falling apart.

hi, i am so sorry to hear you're enduring so much pressure to achieve and succeed by someone else's standards. just to get a sense of your situation, is there no way you could live with your mother?
