The Art Of Letting Go!
As we grow up, we accumulate a lot of memories "sankaras" in our subconscious. And these sankaras returns back to us in the form of memories which creates a ripple of emotions.
A small anecdote I would like to share:
Once there was a king, he was really disturbed about his thoughts so when to a hermit living in the countryside,
After meeting the hermit, The King told him about the distress he was in. And explained how he always remain disturbed. At last, he asked for the solution.
The hermit smiled and, called the king by the riverside next morning.
Next morning, the hermit asked the king to throw a pebble in the stagnant shore of the river,
The king did the same, and then He asked him to try to stop the ripples created by the pebbles using his hands. He tried it, and ended up creating more ripples in the river much bigger than before.
The hermit asked the king about anyway to stop the ripples.
The king answered to let the ripples disappear as they are not permanent,
or stop throwing the pebbles in the stagnant shore,
The hermit smiled and replied, aren't your thoughts similar like ripples?
and it's the answer to your problem similar like the answer you just gave me?
The king understood the root cause of his distress and started to work on it.
Later he got his peace of mind.
Conclusion: We always try to react to our distress making our distress a much bigger problems for us, sometimes we just need to let it happen and observe till it fades away itself.

Thank you for posting this marvelous story and reminding me of it and its meaning.
I had to look up the word 'Sankaras' to remember the concept. Here is a link that I found useful:
