@marianda8. Hi! I'm so sorry that you feel like this right now. I have a way of coping with such feelings that works for me, if you'd like to try it.
1. Think of one memory, anything/anyone/any time in your whole life when you felt safe, when you felt happy.
2. Got the memory? Good. Close your eyes, and imagine the memory and try to visualize the memory as clearly as you can. Don't bother about anything around you. Nothing around you is real right now. All that is real is you and your memory.
3. Do this as long as you need to. Once you feel like you're in a safe space, stop concentrating on the memory and just let it float around in your mind. Breathe deeply (inhale for 5-7 seconds and exhale for the same duration). Do this at least 10 times and feel free to continue until you feel slightly better.
4. Spend a short while doing something, anything else. Just look outside, paint a picture, read a silly poem. (Note: I don't recommend doing activities like driving at this point of time)
5. After doing this for about ten-fifteen minutes, try to think of your happy memory again, and remember that warm, happy and safe feeling. Then think of three main problems you're dealing with at the moment (It's okay if there are less than three, but try not to list more than five problems at a time as it can make you feel overwhelmed).
6. Think of these problems and say, to yourself "I can overcome these. This will not be my defeat. I can do this". Say it over and over, write it down, scream it out at the top of your voice or whisper it. It's up to you.
7. Once you feel better, ask anyone in your support system (family, friends, counsellors) if they can guide you with your problem.
I hope this works for you an helps you feel better. I'm sending lots love and hugs (if you're okay with that). I believe in you!

As for wanting to be able to sleep, I suggest that you give yourself fifteen minutes and if you don't feel sleepy at the end of it, take a nice, warm bath and drink some hot chocolate/warm milk. Just lie down and let your thoughts wander, don't really pay attention to them. I have found that this works for me, and I hope it helps. Wishing you luck! Hang in there!
