Age gaps in dating - what's ok?
So I'm 36 and have always had trouble finding a partner I can relate to. Recently, I've been getting close with a coworker of mine who I feel I can relate to quite easily. Only problem is, he's 13 years younger than me. Why am I cursed? How taboo is a gap like that in relationships? Specifically when the female is the oldee one??
@amusingPlace961 this just my take because age gaps can create a power imbalance, he just might have graduated from college so you might have much more life experience than he does, also please dont think if youre female it wont matter this is very wrong anyone is capable of being groomer im not saying this is you just giving an example. im not fan of age gaps but i think its okay after the person 26 also because the frontal lobe develops at 25 but that doesnt necessarily make person mature it depends on the individual. A lot of vunerable young people seek out older partners it doesnt have to turn out badly but it can. if you choose to go forward with this make sure you both have same life aspects

There will be different types of people speaking different things. It's about you both. Do you guys like to spend the rest of your life together happily and make it work out no matter the external pressure? Do both of your families, in case their opinions matter, agree? Can you make them understand if they don't? Think about what you think and what he thinks. Also, it's very important to discuss about societal pressure because some people give up mid way relationship because of that. So how committed and mature you guys can be.
I had been in relationship with a 6 yr senior once and then with a junior, but only about 3.5 yrs younger. The younger ex was the one I could relate to a lot. Some say you may have some inner child wounds but that's true ONLY if you're always attracted to very young people or certain age people or as in my first case, toxic narc people. For me a senior who was abusive narc felt like a fussy uncle and everything was dead opposite between us. Meanwhile with the younger ex, chemistry was very good but didn't work out because he didn't wanted to as it's strongly rooted in our Indian culture not to marry older woman(unless you're a celebrity who make it work) and parents opinions matter the most, atleast to people who are dedicated children. Also he was not invested into the relationship as my career was going downhill. He valued money.
All in all, you have to start dating to know in the first place. Better to expect all possibilities in the future, try to make it work and stay broad minded.

Love is all bout emotions and the age to me is really just a number. Are you going to deprive yourself of happiness because of the fear of society ? This person in question too is also an adult , I see no problem with it. As long as you both are happy then it's fine
